OT/ANE

I am currently trying to figure out how to align within my brain the fact that there are so many Ancient Near Eastern stories that are similar to those in the OT and quite a number that predate them. I fully aware that OT things come from a specific people, within a specific culture that picked things up from elsewhere (don't we all), but I'm trying to figure out how to put it all into a cohesive religious worldview for myself.
